If you’re currently planning your next holiday or considering traveling to Barbados, you should consider staying at the 4-star Almond Beach Resort, in the parish of St Peter. Ideal for all; especially both families and couples, the hotel has multiple restaurants and bars, 6 pools, as well as a small on-site gym, a generous golf course, spa and also the facilities to host weddings and business meetings.
The resort is in a good location, situated in the lovely friendly town of Speightstown, with a wide choice of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from, as well as national and international banks that offer good exchange rates. In addition, the hotel has direct access to the charming and peaceful beach in St Peter. For those who seek a good balance of obtaining some peaceful rest and relaxation time, but do not want to be too far from the nightlife; again, the hotel fulfils that requirement as it is only 35mins by car from Bridgetown; the vibrant capital of Barbados.
The style of the hotel upon approach from the main road, offers a very neutral, yet seasoned luxury feel, through the use of some gold pattern marble design, an enchanting and classy entrance along with well-placed spotlights (when arriving at night). Furthermore, as you walk through the resort, you will notice the overall style of the décor used is both classic and neutral, whereby local paintings and furniture are used as features.
The rooms have a contemporary style fitted with elegant fabrics from around the Caribbean. Each rooms either comes with a large king size bed or a twin double and have a lovely clean, relaxing and spacious feel to them. There are 3 levels of superiority on offer here, which are Standard, Superior and Deluxe with a beach front, ocean or pool view. It is important to note, that the hotel does not guarantee that guests will receive WiFi in their rooms, however you will be able to obtain strong WiFi access when you are in the main lobby area or at one of the bars or restaurants.
The food at the Almond Beach Resort is really good and as expected they keep in interesting by having different menu themes and food events during the week. The Reef Bar and Restaurant provides guests with a daily breakfast buffet with the options for a delicious omelette tailored to your liking. For lunch there is either a BBQ and grill menu or a buffet, whereas in the evening they serve from an La Carte menu accompanied by various live music entertainment. The friendly bartenders at the Reef Bar especially Shuan and Helen are very skilled, as they have the ability to make any drink you would like and tailor it to your preferred taste. Enid’s Restaurant, on the other hand, is only open to guests from the afternoon onwards serving from an La Carte menu for both lunch and dinner. You can read about our first hand experience of the phenomenal food and service at Enid’s Restaurant HERE
In regards to service, the level offered at the Almond Beach Resort is second to none. You can tell that they (both managers and staff) collectively take pride in providing a friendly, safe, professional yet enjoyable and memorable experience for all their guests. Furthermore, the chefs do their best to accommodate all dietary requests and where necessary order in specific products without making you feel like an inconvenience.
There is a great variety of activities and excursions on offer at the Almond Beach Resort, which will ensure that guests will have a great time. We highly recommend trying the following excursions: Swim with the Turtles, The Island Saffari Tour (which covers 5 parishes across the west, north and east of Barbados), as well as the glass bottom boat (ideal for turtle spotting without the need to be able to swim). Snorkelling, paddle boarding and kayaking is also included in the all-inclusive package. However, the hotel also offers other general activitiess such as table tennis, golf, squash, beach volleyball, yoga classes, cooking demonstrations, mixology sessions and paddle boarding lessons, to name just a few and some of which are subject to an extra charge. Overall; with what is on offer, it would be very difficult for kids to get bored, and if you wanted to take some time alone you could always register them for the children’s play crèche.
Overall, the Almond Beach Resort is rated a 7.5/10. The hotel is in a good location, offers lovely spacious rooms with great beach front views, a wide variety of enjoyable excursions that are included in your all-inclusive package, as well as amazing food with great service and bartenders! The 4-star Almond Beach resort is an all-round pleasant place to stay at, whereby they are able to make your time in Barbados extra special, as well as being great value for money.
